Game plan
Traveling in New Orleans, and the hotel had a really great gym with enough space to do a CrossFit-style workout. I decided to do another Hundreds workout. The heaviest wall ball they had was 12 lb, and I hadn’t done wall balls in a long time, so I planned to pace those carefully. I wanted to push the dumbbell hang snatches and finish with direct midline work on the cable machine.
Result
22:45 total. Completed all 300 reps. Wall balls paced at roughly 10 per minute. The 100 DB hang snatches took approximately 7 minutes, with five reps per arm before switching, performed in sets of about 15 total reps. Those sets took roughly 40 seconds, followed by about 20 seconds to breathe. Peak heart rate during snatches: 175 bpm.
Debrief
This was a great workout. I think I took the wall balls a little too easy, but not by much. I was worried because I hadn’t done them in a long time. I pushed the snatches pretty hard, working in roughly 40-second sets with 20 seconds to breathe. My heart rate got up to 175 and didn’t measurably come down during the breaks, although the brief pauses felt like they helped my muscles recover. The cable crunches were great. They moved quickly, but the tight contraction had my abs cramping. Overall I really enjoyed this one. I got my heart rate up and could feel it in my legs and abs afterward.
